What can you give up to save lives?

Women in Muzbat
Dear Friends,
I have so much to be thankful for this year - my friends, my family, and for people like you who are taking action to end genocide.
It has been an incredibly difficult year for people who live in conflict zones around the world. Direct violence in Darfur has not subsided, and attacks by the Government of Sudan and their proxies have killed hundreds of civilians and displaced thousands. In Eastern Burma, villagers are under constant threat of a junta attack.
That's why my family and I are participating in STANDFast on December 3rd. Will you join us?
At GI-NET, we believe that protection from rape and attack is not a luxury - it's a right. STANDFast is about sacrificing a luxury item - like your morning coffee or daily newspaper - to bring much needed protection to civilians in Darfur and Eastern Burma.
You and your family can participate in STANDFast from anywhere by "fasting" from one luxury item and donating the money you would have spent to Genocide Intervention Network's Civilian Protection Program. 100 percent of the money that you donate during STANDFast will be used to protect civilians in Darfur and Burma. Just a few dollars can do so much:
* $3 provides protection from rape and attack for one woman in Darfur for one week.
* $5 is enough to give a village in Burma the ability to warn other villages of an approaching attack.
Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to reflect on what we have and what we can do for others. Please ask your family to join mine on December 3rd and STANDFast against genocide.
- Janessa Goldbeck, Director of Membership
